Alice Cooper is the name of an American rock group whose lead singer's name is also Alice Cooper (real name Vincent Furnier). Alice Cooper started out in 1969 and is THE band which brought the heavy-metal genre of Rock n' Roll. In those times there were only clean-shaven, short-haired good-looking rock singers. With Alice Cooper came heavy music, stunning songs, electrifying live-shows and a merging of live rock with awesome theatrical performances. And, they're still going strong! The latest release of their album 'A Fistful of Alice' was a chart topper. This theme tries to keep the Windows environment as close to the Alice Cooper persona as possible. Although I have included only a single sound file, the file size is pretty large. The theme consists of two wallpapers, startup and shutdown logos, installation and uninstallation scripts for the logos, cursors, one animated cursor and a screensaver. The highlight of this theme is the registry patch which will change your system logos. See the registry section for details. This theme is best viewed in true colors.
You may have noticed that there are two theme files in the theme. This is because the original wallpaper is small and may not display correctly on large monitors. It looks fine for 640 x 480 and above. Double-click on the theme files to see a preview and click 'OK'. Take care that you have checked the option to stretch the wallpaper full screen in Display Properties\Plus . Now to install the logos, run the file 'logos.bat' which will back up your existing logos and install the new ones.
To remove the theme go to 'Themes' in Control Panel and select another theme you like and click 'OK'. To restore the logos run the file 'remove.bat'.
The theme includes a registry patch which will change the folder icons and the drive icons under 'My Computer'. The registry patch is included for advanced users only!
Now to install the theme icons you have to take care of the following : The folder in which you have installed the theme is c:\program files\plus!\cooper and there exists a file called icons.dll in this folder. Now locate the file called icons.reg and select 'Merge' from the right-click menu. Now you need to rebuild the icon cache. If you have TweakUI from Powertoys then launch it and go to Repair/Rebuild icon cache and you will see the icons. If you don't have TweakUI then go to Control Panel/Display/Appearance and in the items menu locate the item 'Icon' and click on it. Change its size by one unit and click 'Apply'. Now after things settle down, change it back to what it was and click OK. That's it!
To restore the icons or if things go wrong locate the file undo.reg and right-click on it and merge the settings into the registry.
